Investigators with the Bastrop Police Department have cleared up several recent burglaries as well as other complaints with the arrest of four juveniles
On June 4, the department received a complaint around 7 p.m. regarding shots being fired in the area behind the movie theatre on N. Washington. As officers responded to the area, they located three juveniles.
As the juveniles were being questioned, items from a recent car burglary were located on them, and a firearm was found in close proximity. The juveniles were taken to the police department, where they were charged with illegal possession of a stolen firearm, possession of a firearm by a juvenile, two counts of simple burglary and two counts of conspiracy to commit simple burglary.
Further investigation led to the arrest of a fourth juvenile who was charged with aggravated burglary stemming from a residential burglary in which several firearms, including a shot gun was taken; purse snatching, which stemmed from a complaint in which a victim in the 300 block of Northwood was standing at their front door, looking in their purse for keys when a suspect ran up, took the purse and fled; conspiracy to commit aggravated burglary, conspiracy to commit purse snatching, illegal display of a firearm and possession of a firearm by a juvenile. The juvenile was additionally charged with armed robbery from a complaint received on May 28 regarding a victim beginning held-up at gun point.
The case is still under investigation and more charges are pending.
