Students transferring into the public school system will be required to take testing.
The Louisiana State Board of Elementary and Secondary Education policy requires that students considering a transfer into the fifth or ninth grade in the public school system from any in-state non-public school or any home schooling program, or any Louisiana resident transferring from any out-of-state school shall be required to take the fourth or eighth grade LEAP English Language Arts and Mathematics tests and score at or above the BASIC level on either the ELA or Math component of the fourth or eighth grade LEAP test and the APPROACHING BASIC level or higher on the other subject.
Arrangements for testing can be made through Mary Ann Dade at 283.3488 or Cathy Yeldell at 283.3415 for students going into Morehouse Parish Public School Systems. If a placement test is necessary, the parent or guardian must call before June 13 to schedule an appointment. There is a $35 fee if a placement test is required. All fees should be paid by cash or money order. The LEAP test will be June 25 through 27.
