Lake Poverty Point has given up nice-sized bream of late.

BLACK BAYOU — Bass are best in the grass on floating lizards and worms. Bream are on the beds biting on worms and crickets. Crappie are scattered. For latest information, contact the Honey Hole at 323.8707.

CANEY LAKE — The crappie are around the deep tops and hitting jigs and shiners. Bass fishing has been fair to good with lots of fish schooling and hitting shad imitations. Lunker of the week was caught by Patrick Paxton, W. Monroe, a fish weighing 10.52 pounds. Bluegills are bedded and hitting crickets and worms. Catfish to 25 pounds have been caught on trotlines. CHENIERE LAKE — Bream fishing is heating up on popping bugs, worms and crickets. Crappie are scattered while bass are hitting Wobbleheads and soft plastics. Call the Honey Hole at 323.8707 for more information.

LAKE CLAIBORNE — Catfishing has been good on blood and cheese bait for blues and channels while some nice flatheads are being caught on stump hooks baited with small bream. Bass fishing has been fair to good with small to medium sized fish hitting spinners and Brush Hogs. Crappie fishing has been good on the tops in 12-14 foot water on both jigs and shiners. LAKE D’ARBONNE — Some crappie are still on the trees but most are moving to the deeper sloughs and hitting jigs or shiners. Bass are also in the deeper sloughs and fishing topwater lures, buzz baits and Rat-L-Traps ripped over grass beds is working fairly well. OUACHITA RIVER — The bass are on the trees feeding on shad. Spinners and jigs are picking up some fish. Crappie are around the trees with some caught shallow; others deeper on jigs or shiners. LAKE POVERTY POINT — Some really big bream are being caught on the beds on crickets and worms. A good many nice channel catfish are being brought in on cut shad or night crawlers. LAKE ST. JOHN — Bass fishing has been best early and late on topwater lures while soft plastics are picking up some fish later in the day around the trees. Crappie are scattered and slow. Bream are just now moving to the beds. Hybrid stripers are hitting Maribou jigs and small crank baits at night around the lights.
