Art students at Morehouse Magnet School are having the opportunity to display their works from this year.
Teacher Janishi Hightower took advantage of parents being at the school for Award's Day to allow them to peek into the creativity of their children by turning the resource room into an art museum-like setting. Art work from first graders through eighth graders hung around the room, with gold stickers indicating the Best of Show for each group.
Hightower said the elementary students had been working on their projects for the last several weeks and the jr. high students had worked on theirs this semester. Students expressed their individuality in topics ranging from oil, acrylic, water color and pastel painting to mono prints, perspective drawings and Picasso portraits
Winners of the Best in Show Awards were Samantha Smith for first grade; Ainsley Boatright for second grade; Anna Grace White for third grade; Wesley Priestly for fourth grade; Kei Yabut for fifth grade and Zeb Morgan and Michael Villarreal for junior high.
