CANEY LAKE — Chinquapins are moving to the shallow beds and are hitting worms and small crawfish. Bluegills are also starting to bite crickets and worms. Some of the bigger female bass have moved out to 10 foot water and are best on jigs and crank baits while smaller buck bass are in the shallows protecting the nests. CHENIERE LAKE — Bream fishing is good on worms and crickets around shallow beds. Crappie are scattered. Bass are starting to hit the Wobblehead and small white spinner baits. Call the Honey Hole at 323-8707 for more information.
LAKE CLAIBORNE — Stripers and small to medium sized bass are in the shallows chasing shad and have been biting good on spinner baits. Stripers are also schooling and a good many have been caught trolling white bucktails over deep water. Bream are on the beds and fishing has been good using worms and crickets. LAKE D’ARBONNE — Some crappie are still spawning while most have started moving out around deeper tops. Shiners, gray and red Black Lake hair jigs and Bobby Garland Blue Thunder jigs are picking up some fish. Bass are in and out of the shallows and some are being caught on spinner baits and soft plastics. OUACHITA RIVER — Bass fishing is fair on the points with bigger bass around the bushes in the river lakes. Spinners, topwaters and lizards are picking up some fish. LAKE ST. JOHN — Bream fishing is slowly improving on worms and crickets. Crappie are fair on jigs and shiners. Bass are best early and late around the trees on soft plastics.
