Ryan Chain's two-run home run snapped a 2-2 tie and Jaden Davis and Austin Carroll combined on a one-hitter as Johnny's Pizza edged Broad River Transport 5-2 Monday in Dixie Youth Baseball.
Dillin Brown singled with one out in the bottom of the third, setting up Chain's two-run bomb over the right-center fence. One out later, Shemar Bradshaw singled, stole second and scored on Gavin Lingefelt's RBI single, giving Johnny's a 5-2 lead.
Carroll pitched his way into and out of trouble in the fourth. After walking the bases loaded with nobody out, Carroll struck out the side to preserve the victory.
BRT opened the scoring in the top of the first when Austin Murphy walked and eventually scored on a passed ball.
Chain singled home Dillin Brown in the home half of the first, tying the game at 1-1.
Nigel Brown walked and later scored on an errant throw in the BRT second.
Johnny's answered in its half of the second when Timothy Atkins' two-out single chased home Lingefelt, who led off with a base hit, squaring the score at 2.
Davis picked up the win with Carroll getting the save.
Chain homered and singled for the Pizza Men (4-1), Brown tripled and singled, Lingefelt singled twice and Bradshaw and Atkins singled.
Joey Bee singled for BRT.
Murphy, who struck out 11 and walked two, was dealt the loss.
