  • Obituary Bobby Sanders

  • Funeral services for Mr. Bobby Joe Sanders will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, May 9, 2013 at Faith Baptist Church of Bastrop. The Rev. Rubin Weaver will officiate the services assisted by the Reverends Paul Carter and Kevin Sanders. Interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Cox Funeral Home of Bastrop. The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. Wednesday, May 8 at Faith Baptist Church.

  • Bobby Joe Sanders was born November 18, 1934 in Arcadia, to the late Dewey Zachary Sanders and Beatrice Ellen Holyfield Sanders. Mr. Sanders passed away May 7, 2013, surrounded by his family, at his home in Bastrop. He was preceded in death by his parents; a step-son, Paul Reisch; a great-grandson, Elijah Johnson; a sister, Julia Boyer; and two brothers, LaVelle Sanders and Dewey Wayne Sanders.
    Mr. Bobby was an active member of the Faith Baptist Church in Bastrop, a retired building contractor, and an antique dealer.
    Mr. Sanders is survived by his wife of 30 years, Syble Sanders; his two daughters, Patricia Sisk and her husband, Kenneth and Sandy Bartee and her husband, Larry; step-sons, Randy Johnson and Dennis Johnson; 10 grandchildren, Joe Fatheree and his wife, Ellen, Matthew Bartee and his wife, Chelsea, Rusty and Isiah Bartee, Jamie, Leslie, Michael, Dillon, and Hannah Johnson and Sarah Middleton and her husband, Bobby; four sisters, Melba Bass, Doris Rawles, Bessie Thomas and Willie Mae Dooley; four brothers, Billy Sanders and his wife, Martha, Eugene Sanders and his wife, Randolyn, Jerry Sanders and his wife, Rhonda and Marvin Sanders and his wife, Paulette; two sisters-in-law, Debra Sanders and Phyllis Sanders; nine great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews and many special friends.
    Serving as pallbearers will be Steve Dooley, David Dooley, Zack Sanders, Tommy Sanders, Todd Sanders and Trever Sisk. Honorary pallbearers are Doug Goyne, Roy Graham, Clark Bowen and Bobby Williams.
    The family wishes to extend a special "thank-you" to the nurses and staff of Premier Hospice, Reverend Britt Dupree, and to all their church family for the care and compassion shared with Bobby and our family during his illness.
