CANEY LAKE — Bluegills are getting on the beds and a good many are being caught on crickets and worms. Catfishing has been good on cold worms and liver. Bass fishing is fair to good with most already moving from the shallows to the humps. Yellow Magic topwaters and lipless crank baits are picking up some fish. CHENIERE LAKE — Bream fishing has been good on worms and crickets. Bass are litting floating worms, lizards and small white spinner baits. Crappie are scattered and have been best on Beetle Spins. Call the Honey Hole at 323-8707 for more information.
LAKE CLAIBORNE — Some crappie are still shallow while some are moving to the tops in deeper water. Shiners and jigs are picking up some fish. Bream fishing is improving daily around bedding areas on worms and crickets. Bass are fair while the stripers are starting to school. LAKE D’ARBONNE — Some of the crappie have spawned and moved out to the deeper sloughs while some are still in the process of spawning in the shallows. Some fair catches have been made around deeper trees on shiners or jigs. Bass are in and out of the shallows with some caught on Rogues, lizards and spinner baits. OUACHITA RIVER — Small to medium sized bass are being caught around the cuts on finesse worms and Rogues. Crappie are around brush in 8-10 foot water. Bream are just starting to bed. For current information, call the Honey Hole at 323-8707.
LAKE POVERTY POINT — Crappie fishing has been best on shiners or jigs fished on the south end around the oxbows. Catfish are good on cut shad and cold worms while the bream are moving to the beds. LAKE ST. JOHN — Fishing is improving around the lake with bass hitting on top early and late, bream are on the beds and some fair catches of crappie have been reported.
