Sterlington High sisters Catherine and Caroline Buchan competed in the Division II girls' State Golf Tournament, held Wednesday and Thursday at East Ridge Country Club in Shreveport.
Catherine Buchan, a senior, shot 103-100—202 to finish 17th, while Caroline Buchan, a freshman posted a 142-143—285 for 28th.
Julia Johnson of Baton Rouge Episcopal fired a 73 both days to take medalist honors with a total of 146. Anna Heine of Baton Rouge University Lab carded a 75-79—154 to finish runner-up. Taylor Kennedy of Runnels was next at 80-78—158, followed by Lana Hodge of Ouachita Christian in fourth with 81-80—161.
University Lab captured the team trophy with 351, six strokes ahead of Louise McGhee. Sterlington was eighth in the team standings with 488.
Catherine Buchan shot 105 to finish sixth in the Division II/Region I Tournament on Wednesday, April 24 at Links on the Bayou in Alexandria. Caroline Buchan was 18th with a score of 140.
The Buchan sisters' collective score of 245 was good for third place in the team standings. Alexandria Menard edged out Crowley Notre Dame 206-208 for the team trophy. Rounding out the top six teams were Castor with 252, Bell City at 278 and Many with 280.
Lana Hodge of Ouachita Christian fired a 78 to earn medalist honors. Aofie O'Donvon of St. Frederick was seventh at 107.
