Neville pitcher Megan Lively and West Ouachita catcher Amy Crockett are co-Most Valuable Players.

After putting together a surprising season, the Bastrop Lady Rams placed seven players on the All-District 2-4A softball team, including four first-team honorees.

Without a senior on the roster, the Lady Rams compiled a winning record (13-11), earned a home game for the first-round of the playoffs as a No. 14 seed and defeated Benton 14-4 for their first postseason victory since 2008.

District co-champions West Ouachita and Neville split the individual awards. Neville senior pitcher Megan Lively and West Ouachita sophomore catcher Amy Crockett are co-Most Valuable Players.

A pair of first-year head coaches, West Ouachita's Ashley Hoyle and Neville's Trey Dozier are co-Coaches of the Year.

Bastrop's first-team honorees include freshman pitcher Kenyshae Beasley, freshman shortstop Tia Coleman, sophomore center fielder Megan Crymes and junior utility player Ashley George.

Besides handling the bulk of the Lady Rams' pitching, Beasley hit at a .302 slot and drew a team-high 15 walks from the leadoff slot.

Coleman led the Lady Rams in batting average (.420) and hits (21) and belted her first career home run.

Crymes hit .212 and was the Lady Rams' No. 2 pitcher.

George, who settled into the Lady Rams' starting catcher role, was second on the team in batting (.378) and knocked a pair of home runs.

State semifinalist West Ouachita leads the way with seven first-team selections, followed by state quarterfinalist Neville with five, Franklin Parish with two and Wossman with one.

Besides Crockett, West Ouachita's first-teamers include senior pitcher Allison Tyron, sophomore first baseman Rebecca Skains, sophomore third baseman Tiffany Frost, junior shortstop Allie Medlin, senior outfielder Ashton Russell and sophomore outfielder Bobbi Smith.

Joining Lively on the first unit from Neville are junior catcher Megan Long, senior first baseman Abby Braswell, sophomore third baseman Mary Claire Shepard and senior outfielder Sarah Aydelott.

Rounding out the first team are outfielder Adrienne Pilgreen and utility player Lindsey Robbin of Franklin Parish and senior second baseman LaKenya Casson of Wossman.

Receiving second-team accolades from Bastrop were freshman first baseman Chelsea Fagan, junior third baseman Dee McDaniel and junior left fielder Amanda Patrick.

Fagan slugged a team-high seven home runs, while batting .315.

McDaniel hit .245 and was second on the squad with five home runs.

Patrick finished the season with a .224 batting average.
