CANEY LAKE — Bass are in the back of the coves with Flukes, Rogues and 5 inch lizards picking up some fish to 6 pounds. Chinquapins are starting to bed on the shallow humps and are hitting cold worms and night crawlers. LAKE CLAIBORNE — Bass fishing has been good on soft plastics and spinners fished around grass in the back of the creeks. Most are small to fair sized. Crappie are in and out of the shallows. Some have spawned and are around deep brush while some are still shallow. Some are also being caught below the spillway. Chinquapins are on the beds and bluegills are starting to bite crickets and worms. Stripers are fair trolling while catfishing has been good on trotlines baited with cheese or blood. LAKE D’ARBONNE — Crappie fishing has been fair to good from very shallow to quite deep, out to 18 feet deep. The Bobby Garland Gum Drop jig is picking up some nice fish while shiners are working as well. Bass are around the bushes in the coves and hitting Rogues, lizards and Brush Hogs.
