Both workshops will be held Saturday, April 27 and speaking about buying a home will be Vice-President of Iberia Bank, Brenda Johnson; Area Director of Rural Development for the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Cathy L. Accardo and Excessive Director of Habitat for Humanity of Ouachita, Larry J. Head. After a brief intermission, Business Consultant with La. Small Business Development Center Virendra Chhikara, Extension Agent with the LSU Ag Center Bruce Garner and Assistant to the State Director of U.S. Department of Agriculture Lee Jones will speak on how to start a business.
"I was born and raised in Morehouse Parish, graduating from Bastrop High School in 1973 and have a deep love for this town and the people who live here," Chapter Economic Development Chairperson Marion Miller said. " We want the lives of those in the community to be as good as they can possibly be, which is why we are offering these workshops here."
The program will begin at 9 a.m. and is being held at St. John Baptist Church. It is free to the public.
Delta Sigma Theta Sorority was founded on January 13, 1913 by 22 collegiate women at Howard University. These students wanted to use their collective strength to promote academic excellence and to provide assistance to persons in need.
