A joyride for a local man lands him in jail.
The Morehouse Parish Sheriff's Office received a call around 4 p.m. Wednesday afternoon regarding a car crashing into a home in Maplewood Subdivision. When deputies got to the scene, the driver of the car had fled the scene, still in the vehicle. Deputies learned the vehicle, a small, white SUV, had been stolen from within the neighborhood.
The vehicle and suspect was located near the accident scene and Marquest L. Bolden, 1504 Van Ave., was identified as the driver. Bolden admitted to taking the vehicle and loosing control of it, causing him to crash into the residence.
Bolden was taken into custody and charged with hit and run, unauthorized use of a movable, reckless operation and no driver's license. The home sustained heavy damage and the vehicle had minor damage.
Also on Wednesday, deputies were able to arrest a suspect they had been on the look out of a suspect involved in stealing cooper wire and had a warrant for his arrest on seven counts of felony theft.
The case involved over $100,000 in cooper ground wire which had been cut and removed from utility poles throughout the parish over a period of several months.
Deputies went to the home of Brian Scott Kinniard, 902 Buatt, and were able to arrest him on the charges of seven counts of felony theft. He was taken into custody and transported to the Morehouse Parish Jail. His bond has been sat at $10,000 per count.
