  • The tournament is open to anyone over the age of 60 but pre-registration is required by April 30. There is no entry fee and Ritchie said depending on the number of people signed up, it may be played one day a week for the entire month. Other activities planned for the month include a trip to the state capital in Baton Rouge and a trip to Tallulah to participate in a Senior Olympics Fun Day and a pot luck sampler meal.
The Council also offers many programs year round for seniors such as a "Wellness Program," which has various methods of working out including free weights, aerobics, line dancing and arm chair aerobics, and a meal program where anyone over the age of 60 may receive a hot, well-balanced lunch-time meal for $1.50.
"It's a great place that seniors can come and socialize while getting a meal where the menu is prepared by a nutritionalist," Ritchie said. "They can also keep active by participating in the various workout plans."
