Kendarion Grant unfurled a five-hit shutout and went 2-for-4 at the plate as Franklin Parish stonewalled Bastrop 7-0 in the rubber match of a three-game series at Baron Ballpark on Sunday afternoon.
Franklin (10-21, 5-7) won the series opener 2-1 in Winnsboro on Saturday en route to claiming the three-game series over the Rams (11-18, 5-7).
Stringing together successive one-out singles by Tyler Lively, Jordan Newton, Cameron Ulmer and Grant, followed by Jake Monnin's RBI fielder's choice, the Patriots jumped out to a 2-0 first-inning lead.
Franklin padded its margin to 3-0 in the second as John Robbins' two-out double to left field rolled to the wall and Lively delivered an RBI single.
Bastrop threatened in the bottom of the third when Dollar Ridgell drew a one-out walk and moved to third on Gavin Pollock's two-out, opposite-field double to right. Moments later, Grant escaped the mini-jam with a popup in front of the mound and did not allow another runner past second base for the duration of the contest.
Putting the game out of reach in the fifth, the Patriots scratched for four runs on two hits, two errors and a walk. Newton's RBI single highlighted the outburst as the visitors expanded the spread to 7-0.
Ty Cantrell and Chase Cockrell opened the Bastrop sixth with consecutive singles, but Grant induced a line out, a strikeout and a fly out to preserve the shutout.
Grant struck out three and walked three for the win.
Robbins furnished a double, a single, two runs scored and a stolen base as the Patriots out-hit the Rams 9-5. Lively, Newton and Grant had two singles apiece and Ulmer collected a base hit.
Pollock, Ty Cantrell, Cockrell, Ridgell and Khalil Key singled for the Rams.
Bastrop closes out the regular season at home Monday night vs. Ouachita.
