  • A skeet shoot will be held on Saturday, May 11 as a fundraiser for the Sterlington High School football program. To be held at the Wild Wings Sporting Club and Lodge in Downsville, the event gets under way at 9 a.m.
Early registration is in progress. To pre-register, contact SHS head football coach Jason Thompson at 680.3033 or Kerry Elee at 366.4166. Fliers for the skeet shoot are available at most Sterlington businesses as well as the Wild Wings web site (www.wildwingssportingclub.com).
Late registration will be conducted on site the day of the event, beginning at 8 a.m.
Entry fee is $125 per contestant and covers lunch provided by the Fish House. Shooters are required to furnish their own ammunition (100 shots).
Teams will be made up of five shooters. Contestants who register individually will be placed on a team the day of the event.
Prizes will be awarded to the top teams, the top overall shooter, the top female shooter and the top youth shooter.
Proceeds from the competition will go toward the SHS strength and conditioning program and general equipment needs.
“We did this at Neville and it's really fun,” said first-year Panthers' head coach Jason Thompson. “It's a great opportunity for Sterlington and the surrounding communities to get together for fellowship and fun, while raising money for a great cause.”
SPRING PRACTICE: Sterlington will begin spring football drills on Monday, May 6. The Panthers will scrimmage Caldwell on Thursday, May 16 at 6 p.m. at the Panthers' Den.
