Bastrop (13-10) at West Ouachita (19-6), Friday, 5 p.m.

Fresh off its first postseason victory since 2008, Bastrop visits West Ouachita for the second round of the Class 4A playoffs Friday afternoon (the game has been pushed back 24 hours due to the threat of severe weather on Thursday). First pitch is scheduled for 5 p.m. in Cadeville, with the winner advancing to the State Tournament in Sulphur.
Bastrop, the No. 14 seed, is coming off of arguably its best game of the year after trouncing District 1-4A champion Benton 14-4 in five innings Monday afternoon.
First baseman Chelsea Fagan slugged her seventh home run of the season — an authoritative three-run blast — and added a base hit to highlight a 12-hit onslaught against Benton. Freshman pitcher and leadoff batter Kenyshae Beasley contributed three infield singles, shortstop Tia Coleman banged a pair of doubles, center fielder Megan Crymes singled twice, third baseman Dee McDaniel and left fielder Amanda Patrick doubled and catcher Ashley George singled.
Without a senior on the roster, the upstart Lady Rams (13-10) will definitely need to be at their best against District 2-4A rival West Ouachita. Seeded No. 3 in the bracket, the District 2-4A champion Lady Chiefs (19-6) roughed up the Lady Rams 19-2 and 17-1 in regular season play.
First-year head coach Ashley Hoyle's Lady Chiefs routed another District 2-4A foe, Franklin Parish, 16-0 in Monday's first round action.
Thursday's victor will be paired against the winner between District 2-4A co-champion and No. 6 seed Neville and No. 22 Shreveport Northwood in the quarterfinals at Sulphur's Frasch Park on Friday night, April 26.
Other second round pairings include No. 1 Vandebilt Catholic at No. 17 Assumption, No. 9 Lutcher at No. 8 St. Thomas More, No. 12 Academy of Our Lady at No. 5 DeRidder, No. 13 Cabrini at No. 4 Belle Chasse, No. 10 Ursuline at No. 7 Teurlings Catholic and No. 18 Grant at No. 2 Alexandria Senior High.
