CANEY LAKE — Bass to near 10 pounds are being caught in the back of the creeks with Flukes picking up some good fish. Watermelon red seems to be the best color. Crappie are beginning to move to the banks although some are still hanging out in deeper water and hitting jigs and shiners. The bream have not started yet and catfish has been on the slow side. LAKE CLAIBORNE — Bass fishing is improving with best catches made on lizards, plastic worms or Brush Hogs along the edges of the grass in the creeks. Crappie are moving shallow and hitting jigs and shiners. Catfishing has been good on trotlines baited with goldfish or liver. Bream are just starting to bed. LAKE D’ARBONNE — Crappie are starting to show up in numbers in the shallows although some are hanging at mid-depth while others are still out around the channel edges. Shiners or jigs are taking lots of fish. Bass are around the trees in the sloughs and creeks and hitting Rogues, lizards, spinners and Rat-L-Traps. LAKE POVERTY POINT — Some really big crappie are starting to bite with the shallows producing the most fish in the afternoons. Shiners and Bobby Garland Blue Thunder, Blue Grass or Double Silver Rainbow jigs are working well. Bass fishing has been fair while the bream are just starting.
