For Bastrop Mayor incumbent Betty Alford-Olive and retired City of Bastrop employee Arthur Jones, the race to become mayor continues.
In Saturday's voting, Olive received 570 votes (33 percent) and Jones received 454 votes (26 percent). With a turnout of only 1,722 which is 22.7 percent of voters capable of voting, they are the only two candidates receiving over 13 percent of the vote.
Henry Cotton received 229 while James Murphy received 176. Troy Downs received 139, Samuel Jackson received 116 and Ricky Anderson received 38.
In the race for Bastrop Alderman, District B, Obbie Johnson won against Larry Prater with a vote of 154 (51 percent) to 146 (49 percent).
In Mer Rouge, a renewal of a two percent sales and usage tax passed with a vote of 39 (89 percent) to 5 (11 percent).
A run-off election will be held May 4, along with a Morehouse Parish School Board proposed sales tax vote.
