An annual tradition of fireman with boots standing around the courthouse square was held Friday.
The firemen, raising money for the Muscular Dystrophy Association, were able to nearly double the amount raised in the past years for the cause and are grateful for the support shown by the community.
"We would like to thank the community for their donations, without them, this would not be possible," Bastrop Fire Lt. Jesse Nicholson said. "We really enjoyed participating in 'Fill the Boot' and look forward to doing it again."
Kraftman Federal Credit Union also played a role in this year's event by handling the sorting and counting of donations.
