Ouachita Christian 10, Cedar Creek 2
Quin Graves cranked a three-run home run to highlight a five-run third inning as Ouachita Christian clinched the District 2-1A championship with a 10-2 victory over Cedar Creek on Thursday.
Cedar Creek (15-7, 4-3) went up 1-0 in the top of the third when Jacob Antee lashed a one-out double to right field and scored on Jacob Brown's base hit up the middle.
OCS (24-3, 7-0) answered with authority in the bottom of the third.
Tanner Pennebaker doubled down the left field line, Colby Webb walked and Jordan Washam singled to fill the bases with one out. Jonathan Washam followed with a single to center, tying the game at 1-1. Cade Harper's RBI groundout plated Jordan Washam with the go-ahead run. Next up, Graves deposited a three-run shot over the left field wall, giving the Eagles a 5-1 lead.
Jordan Washam's RBI double upped the margin to 6-1 in the fourth.
Cedar Creek picked up a run in the fifth, but missed a chance to get back in the game by leaving the bases loaded.
OCS put the game out of reach with a four-run sixth. Jonathan Washam's two-run single, Harper's RBI triple and Graves' sac fly enabled the Eagles to build a commanding 10-2 advantage.
Winning pitcher Braden Bristo (5-1) worked five innings, allowing two runs (both earned) on five hits, while striking out seven and walking four. Webb punched out three of the six batters he faced in two innings of flawless relief.
Jordan Washam went 3-for-3 with a pair of doubles to spearhead the Eagles' 11-hit production. Cade Harper tripled, singled and drove in two runs, Jonathan Washam was 2-for-4 with three RBI, Graves knocked in four runs with a homer and a sac fly, Tanner Pennebaker and David Branch doubled and Webb singled.
Hitting for the Cougars were Mark Van with two singles, Antee with a double and Jacob Brown and Austin McNeal with base hits.
Grant Clay (4-2), the first of three Cedar Creek moundsmen, was dealt the loss.
