The loss of desire or drive is the primary reason dreams die. When the envisioned results of our efforts do not materialize as quickly as we hope there is the tendency to revert back to what is comfortable and secure.
I have often heard it said that you cannot miss what you have never had. I disagree. This saying is talking about the tangible; however our hopes and dreams are things we carry inside. When we give up on those we give up on ourselves and what goes missing is a piece of us!
Criticism, lack of encouragement and lack of funding are all reasons people attribute to why they give up on their dreams. I would like to add one more to this list, a lack of motivation. The loss of desire or drive is the primary reason dreams die. When the envisioned results of our efforts do not materialize as quickly as we hope there is the tendency to revert back to what is comfortable and secure.
~Galatians 6:9 tells us to not become weary. We are assured that if we do not give up we will reap a harvest. What have you been tempted to give up on today? Before you pack up your hopes and dreams, stop for a moment and:Remember Your Why: Ask your self why did you want this in the first place? Embrace Your Now: Accept the status of your current situation. Then you can begin to build and move forward. Harness Your Feelings: Get control of your emotions and the fears that tell you your dreams are impossible. Change Your Scenery: Take a breather. Take a day or two away from what you are attempting to accomplish. Then you will be able to approach it with renewed energy and a clear focus. Expect Your Best: Do not settle for less even in your thoughts because once you settle in your mind you have already given up.
