Kyle Sisson, the son of lifelong Bastrop residents Jason and Sally Sisson, was among the honorees as Ouachita Christian School celebrated its straight state championship at its recent football banquet.
In three seasons as the Eagles' starting center, Kyle Sisson helped OCS to a 41-4 record and three straight appearances in the Superdome Classic. OCS lost to White Castle in the 2010 state finals, but bounced back with two straight 15-0 seasons in 2011 and 2012. OCS defeated Haynesville 20-8 on Dec. 7 for its second straight state title.
Watching his son's team beat Haynesville in the state championship game was especially significant for Kyle's father. Jason played for the 1987 OCS team which carried a 13-0 record into the Superdome, before losing to Haynesville 20-8. Ironically, 25 years later, Kyle and the 2012 Eagles won by the exact same score.
Kyle Sisson's senior accomplishments include first-team Class 1A All-State center, first-team All-Northeast Louisiana, first-team All-District.
"As a three-year starter, Kyle was the glue that held our line together," OCS coach Steven Fitzhugh said. "Kyle was dependable and the leader of our line."
Joining Sisson on the Eagles' roster from Bastrop was freshman lineman Evan Downs.
