LAKE CHARLES-- McNeese State's women's basketball team will travel to Vermillion, South Dakota Thursday night to face South Dakota in the semifinals of the Women's Basketball Invitational (WBI) at 7 p.m.
The game can be heard on the McNeese Radio Network (1470 AM/1290 AM). The winner will advance to the finals to play the winner of the Detroit/Pennsylvania game.
McNeese (20-14) is coming off a 66-58 win at Elon last Saturday to advance to the semis while South Dakota is coming off a 71-48 win a Lamar to advance.
Seniors Ashlyn and Caitlyn Baggett continue to lead the Cowgirls with 18.8 ppg. and 15.4 ppg., respectively. Ashlyn is coming off a game against Elon where she scored her career 2000th point and made her career 300th three-pointer. She is six three-pointers away from tying the Southland Conference career three-pointers made.
Caitlyn leads the team with 4.6 apg. and an 86.8 free throw percent. Junior Cecilia Okoye leads the Cowgirls with 7.1 rpg. And a 50.4 field goal shooting percent.
The Coyotes have three players currently averaging in double figures with guard Nicole Seekamp leading the team with 14.7 ppg. Tempestt Wilson is averaging 12.9 ppg. while Polly Harrington is averaging 11.1 ppg. Margaret McCloud leads the team with 7.0 rpg.
