CARLYSS — The St. Theresa Catholic Church Community of Carlyss will celebrate the 40th year of the "March for Christ" on Good Friday, March 29.
The six mile march begins at 2:15 p.m. from Our Lady of Prompt Succor Church in Sulphur and ends at St. Theresa Church in time for the 5 p.m. Good Friday services.
While carrying a 130 ft. Rosary, the marchers sing, pray the Rosary, recite the Divine Mercy Chaplet and pray the Way of the Cross. A choir and a band on a trailer will lead the singing.
Water will be furnished at three rest stops. The marchers consist of babies in strollers all the way to senior citizens. Everyone is welome, and all are asked to wear red shirts including children.
In 40 years there has only been one rain out — in 1996 —so put your faith in God and come join them. The Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office will furnish an escort.
