  • First Baptist's Church of Sterlington Passion Walk

  • The First Baptist Church of Sterlington, located at 1030 Highway 2, is attempting to stage a performance unlike the typical play. The Passion Walk is a journey back in time that will allow viewers to climb the stairs to the Upper Room and witness a depiction of Jesus in his last days on Earth.Pastor J.E. Brown said this...

  • Brown said as patrons walk through the tour they can watch as Jesus breaks bread and shares the cup with his friends. Each person can follow the path Jesus walked and hear of the trials he endured.
Brown said each room will transport the viewer back in time. Scenes from the rooms include the flagellation room where he was beaten and whipped. The Pilate’s Court is another room, where people can be heard crying out 'Crucify him, crucify him!”
Brown said next, the tour will take people into Jesus's tomb where his body is behind the stone and guarded by a Roman soldier.
The Garden of Gethsemane will also be on the tour, where Peter, James and John can be seen sleeping peacefully while Jesus prays to his Father in heaven. Then Brown said each person will visit the tomb, where the stone is rolled away and only the grave clothes remain.
Members of the First Baptist Church of Sterlington will be performing The Passion Walk under director Jerry Haynes, from 7- 9 p.m. on March 23. Admission is free. Tours will start every five minutes.
Brown said everyone is invited to, “Come walk the roads of Jesus.”
