The Pitkin Lady Tigers shut out the Negreet Lady Indians Saturday afternoon in their final game of the Rosepine Tournament.
The Tigers rallied quickly in the first inning. Madison McDonald led the lineup with a walk, followed by multiple base hits by Megan Woods, Amber Johnson and Kristen Roshong. With the score 1-0, Chloe Paul hit a shot to left field clearing the bases for the Tigers. The Lady Indians remained scoreless after the end of the first inning.
The score held at 4-0 until the fourth inning, when the Tigers struck again. Chloe Paul hit a solo home run followed by a three run homer by Amber Johnson. The fourth inning ended with the Lady Tigers leading 8-0.
The Lady Tigers made their final charge in the top of the fifth inning with patience at the plate. Chloe Paul and Megan Woods hit safely again, only to be driven home by Breean Perkins. The Lady Indians failed to respond to the Lady Tigers charge, ending the game in the bottom of the fifth with a score final score of 10-0.
Pitkin Lady Tiger Madison McDonald picked up the win for the Lady Tigers. McDonald went five innings allowing three hits, four walks and five strikeouts.
