If you saw Paige Jones out on the town you would assume that she is just like anyone else. However, Paige, mother of 3 and wife of Andy Jones has been dealt a wildcard in life and is now battling cancer for the second time. It is her positive attitude and exquisite faith that all will be ok that sets her apart from others. Just like other moms and wives, Paige juggles a marriage, kids, a career, daily errands, as well as makes time for family and friends.

Isn’t it funny how time changes everything? Just a few years ago at age 23 Paige was diagnosed with breast cancer. “I had been accepted into the PTA program at South Ark Community College when I got the news. I was devastated, but knew that with God on my side everything would be ok. I was not going to let this slow me down.” Four short months later Paige was cancer free and back on the road to finishing her education. At age 27 as more time rocked on Paige finished college and began her career as a PTA at Union General Hospital, married her best friend, and got pregnant with their first child, Anna. Just six short months after baby Anna was born, Paige learned that she was pregnant with baby Drew. At 30 weeks pregnant, during a routine exam, doctors found that Paige’s cancer had returned. Multiple tests revealed a diagnosis of metastatic breast cancer in her liver and lungs. “I was in shock. I really did not know what to think. I just wanted my baby to be okay.” On January 17, 2012, 9 weeks early, baby Drew was delivered. Chemo began one week after delivery and Paige set off on journeys between MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, TX and Schumpert Medical Center in Shreveport, LA where Drew was in the NICU battling a small hole in his intestine. “t has been a full year now since Drew was born Paige was diagnosed. “We have received nothing but good news every time we have traveled back to MD Anderson. I am forever grateful to my friends and family who have supported and prayed for me along this journey. Not every day is a walk in the park, but I know that with God on my side, having the faith of a mustard seed can surely move this mountain. I’ve got my boxing gloves up and I am ready for this fight. If I have learned one thing it is this, I can do anything through Christ who gives me strength.”

Please continue to pray for Paige and her family as she continues on this journey. In the eyes of many she is a story of hope, an inspiration to all and Union Parish’s own hometown hero.
