Myrtis Oree Kennedy Berry, known as Oree to most, but Mamaw to many, passed away on March 14, 2013 at West Carroll Hospital after a lengthy illness. She was the mother of five, grandmother of 17 and great-grandmother of 11. She was a sister to five and friend to many. Mrs. Berry was devoted to her Lord and family and served both with selfless love. Her Christian example as an encourager inspired all those who knew her. At First Baptist Church, Oak Grove, she served as a nursery worker and a youth training union teacher, and was a faithful member of the Ruth Sunday School Class.
As a homemaker, she enjoyed sewing and cooking for her family. Music was a very important part of her life! Singing, playing harmonica and guitar, smiling and tapping her foot as she "made music" brought joy to many. Mrs. Berry 's love of music and the guitar has been passed down and will be remembered for generations.
The joy of the Lord proved to be her strength. Strength and honor have been her clothing. Her children arise up and call her blessed and will honor her memory as we celebrate her life.
The family wishes to thank the staff and workers of Carroll Nursing Home for their loving care and services. A special thanks to Dr. Fakhre Fakhre, Matt Wegner NP and the West Carroll Hospital.
Pallbearers were John Berry, David Berry, Toney Reemes, Tony Hill, Kevin Tatum and Ronnie Shoemaker.
