Sterlington 9, Forest 5

Taylor Lockwood touched off a grand slam home run and sophomore southpaw Ross Lambert went the distance on the bump as Sterlington handled Forest 9-5 Saturday morning in the Bastrop-Sterlington Tournament at Panther Park.

Sterlington hung three runs on the board in the bottom of the first and tacked on four more in the third on Lockwood's second longball of the season. Adding one in the fourth, the Panthers' margin swelled to 8-0.

Lambert, meanwhile, was perfect through four innings.

Forest chipped away with two in the fifth, two in the sixth and one in the seventh, but the damage had been done.

Lockwood spearheaded the Panthers' nine-hit effort with a homer and a single, Kyle Dolecheck doubled and singled, Trent Raffray singled twice, with base hits by Kyle Vandergracht, Tyler Buffington and Casey Sutton.

For the Bulldogs, Ridge McCurdy cracked a double and two singles and Skyler Hudson, Wyatt Bolding and Connor Hammard singled.

Lambert struck out five, walked one and hit one for the win. Landon Smith picked up the loss for Forest.
