CANEY LAKE — With a return to more seasonal weather, some bass will be on the beds in Hancock and Smith creeks and will hit big tubes or Flukes. Some will still be out on the secondary points and red Rat-L-Traps and Carolina-rigged worms will work best. CHENIERE LAKE — Bass fishing is improving fishing jigs, spinners and jerk baits around the trees. Crappie are scattered around the trees getting ready to spawn and will hit jigs and shiners. Call the

LAKE CLAIBORNE — Crappie are moving from the deep water to the points and ultimately to the back of the creeks; look for them anywhere from deep to shallow and they’ll hit shiners or jigs. Some are also being caught on yo-yos baited with shiners. Stripers have been rather slow while some catfish have been caught on trotlines. LAKE D’ARBONNE — As more seasonal weather returns, look for more bass to be in the shallows off the sloughs. Soft plastic lizards and worms are picking up some good fish along with spinner baits and jigs. Crappie will be moving to the banks as water temperatures rise and will hit shiners or jigs. OUACHITA RIVER — Crappie fishing is best in the back of the river lakes and sloughs where spawning will take place. Shiners and jigs will both work.
