Cade Harper went 3-for-4 and drove in five runs as Ouachita Christian upended Farmerville 13-2 Thursday night in the Bastrop-Sterlington Tournament at Micah Harper Field.
Breaking up a scoreless game, the Eagles (14-1) gave David Branch all the run support he would need in the bottom of the third.
Todd Pennebaker led off with a double to right center, moved to third on Braden Bristo's infield single and continued home on a throwing error. Jake Slaughter followed with a base hit down the left field line and Jonathan Washam laced an RBI single to center. Harper followed with a run-producing double down the right field line. Jordan Washam's two-run single up the middle stretched the Eagles' lead to 5-0.
Farmerville battled back with two in the top of the fourth, but the Eagles answered with three in the fourth and five in the fifth as Harper's three-run triple put the 10-run rule into effect.
Harper finished a home run shy of the cycle to lead the Eagles' 16-hit barrage. Braden Bristo went 3-for-4 and scored three times, Pennebaker smashed a couple of doubles, Jordan Washam drove in three with a pair of singles, Jonathan Washam and Quin Graves supplied two singles, with base hits by Slaughter and Brach.
Nick Nevala paced the Farmers (3-10) with a double and an RBI single, Will Murphy doubled and Chase Spatafora and Landry Newsom singled.
Branch (3-0) gave up five hits, struck out five and walked none for the win. Murphy (1-3), the second of four Farmerville pitchers, was charged with the loss.
