A Leesville man was killed in a two-vehicle crash that occurred late Wednesday evening.
Dennis Webber, 61, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, which occurred at approximately 10:15 p.m. Wednesday, according to the Louisiana State Police.
Webber was driving west on La. 26 when he lost control of the vehicle he was driving and ran off the road, the LSP reports. Webber then drove back onto the highway sideways into the path of Ronnie Ferrell, 52, of Sugartown, who was driving east on La. 26. The crash caused Ferrell's pickup truck to catch fire, completely burning the inside of the cab and the engine compartment.
Webber was not wearing his seatbelt and was pronounced dead at the scene by the Beauregard Parish Coroner's Office. Ferrell was wearing a seatbelt and was transported from the scene with moderate injuries.
Toxicology samples were obtained from the drivers and will be submitted for analysis. The crash remains under investigation.
