  • Prairie View will be represented in both the girls and boys MAIS Class 2A-3A All-Star basketball games Friday at Jackson Prep. Action gets under way at 11 a.m. with the Class 1A girls game, followed the 1A boys at 12:45 p.m., the 2A-3A girls at 2:30 and the 2A-3A boys at 4:30.
    Point guard Kristen Oliphant and Brendan Tubbs will both play for the North.
    Oliphant, who also played in the MAIS All-Star softball game in the fall, helped the Lady Spartans to a 30-8 season, a third-place finish in the State Tournament and their first-ever victory in the Overall Tournament. She averaged 8.6 points and 5 assists per game.
    Tubbs averaged 16.6 points per game as the Spartans compiled a 16-12 record and finished runner-up in District 3-2A.
    Oliphant is joined on the North squad by Peyton Clanton of Carroll, Carly Chinn and Mollie Blair of Jackson Academy, Anna Katherine Nowell and Hannah Peoples of Leake, Tori Hines of Madison-Ridgeland, Shay Atkins of Oak Hill, Chloe Bush and Christian Robertson of Pillow and Shay Richardson of Washington. Coaches for the North are Doyle Wolverton of Leake and Jan Sojourner of Jackson Academy.
    For the North boys, Tubbs is accompanied on the roster by Calvin Brown of Canton, Bennett Davis of Central Hinds, Kevin Anthony and Matthew McMullan of Jackson Academy, Cameron Monix of Lee (Miss.), Jordan Hubbard of Madison-Ridgeland, Fernando Van Hook and Hayes Carr of Magnolia Heights, Brad Bennett and Peyton Lewis of Marshall and Jackson Pannell of Pillow. Thomas Tubby of Leake was selected to the team, but will miss the game with an injury. Phil Douglas of North Delta will coach the North squad.
