  • First-year Bastrop Lady Rams soccer coach Jessica Pylant was named Coach of the Year in voting conducted by her District II Division II peers.
Bastrop is also claimed four spots on the All-District squad, two each on the first and second teams.
Senior Sarah Aydelott of district champion and state quarterfinalist Neville is the Overall Most Valuable Player, while junior teammate Maya Turner was named the Offensive MVP. Defensive MVP honors went to West Ouachita senior Erin Dunn.
Sophomore goalkeeper Megan Crymes and senior sweeper Makyla Crossley are the Lady Rams' first-team honorees.
“Megan works hard and does a great job as our keeper. She had a save percentage of about 78 percent this season,” Pylant said. “Makyla is a senior who exhibits leadership among the team and is a team player. She did a great job this season at sweeper. She's Megan's right hand and it's important that they work together because she's the last line of defense before the ball gets to the goal.”
In all, Neville was awarded seven slots on the first team. Joining Aydelott and Turner are senior Ashley Day and juniors Elena Boardman, Cole Carson, Caroline Coon and Jordan Sanders.
Earning first-team accolades for the Lady Chiefs were seniors Brianna Castaldi, Kaylie Owens and Kristyn Wakefield and junior Megan North.
Rounding out the first unit are senior Jamia Hopkins and junior Bria Small from Wossman.
Bastrop's second-team selections include sophomore center midfielder and Team Captain Zoey Behnke and senior fullback Aneatria Watson.
“Zoey is very disciplined and works hard,” Pylant said. “She constantly pushes herself and her teammates to be the best they can be. She is always positive and encouraging.
“Aneatria gives 110 percent every day at practices and in games. She hustles and works hard to get the job done.”
A newcomer to the soccer scene, the Lady Rams recently completed their second season.
“I am very proud of these young ladies,” Pylant said. “Each one has earned this award for their hard work and dedication. I couldn't have asked for a better group of girls to work with. This group of girls strived to do their best and were not satisfied with mediocre. They even adopted the motto, 'No excuses, just results,' and would remind one another of this from time to time. I will definitely miss having our four seniors on board with us next season.”
