The 2012 armed robbery of Tiger Nation in Lake Charles has apparently been solved with the arrest of William A. Shupp, 41, of Spring, Texas.
The 2012 armed robbery of Tiger Nation here has apparently been solved with the arrest of William A. Shupp, 41, of Spring, Texas.
On April 12, 2012, an unknown suspect entered Tiger Nation, located at 1708 W. Prien Lake Rd. armed with a handgun. The suspect wore a disguise and demanded money and other belongings from the stores employee. The suspect incapacitated the victim and fled the scene in a stolen vehicle. The investigation led Lake Charles Police to the discovery of the vehicle and items belonging to the suspect. Evidence was sent to The Southwest Crime Lab for DNA analysis.
On Feb. 28, 2013, Sgt. Richard Harrell was notified that a suspect had been identified through DNA as Shupp. An arrest warrant was issued for Shupp and The Montgomery County Sheriff's Office was contacted for assistance in locating him.
On March 1, 2013, The Gulf Coast Violent Offenders and Fugitive Task Force contacted the Lake Charles Police Department and advised that Shupp had been captured. The task force is comprised of The Montgomery County Sheriff's SWAT team and member of The U.S. Marshal Service.
Shupp is charged with Armed Robbery, False Imprisonment, Theft and Theft of a Motor Vehicle. Judge Davis has set a total bond amount for Shupp at $450,000.
