Chase Cockrell went 3-for-4 and drove in five runs as Bastrop spanked Lakeside 12-4 Saturday in the Minden Tournament.
In other tournament action, the Rams lost their first two games at the hands of Minden (3-2) and North DeSoto (6-2).
Bastrop gets back in action Friday and Saturday in the Lakeside Tournament.
Bastrop 12, Lakeside 4
Bastrop pounded out 14 hits to back the five-hit pitching of Luke Chain en route to defeating the Warriors.
Taking control early, the Rams jumped out to a 6-0 second-inning lead.
Ty Cantrell led off the four-run first with a base hit and Morgan Edmonds doubled, setting the table for Chase Cockrell's two-run triple. Cade Cantrell followed with an RBI single, stole second, moved to third on Gavin Pollock's fly out to right and completed the circuit when Khalil Key was safe on an error.
Jordan Jones and Ty Cantrell opened the second with consecutive singles and both eventually scored on Cockrell's one-out, two-run single.
Lakeside closed the gap to 7-4, but the Rams put the game away with two in the fourth and three in the fifth.
RBI singles by Cockrell and Cade Cantrell widened the spread to 9-4 in the fourth.
Joshua Bradbury's RBI tripled highlighted the Rams' fifth.
Chain struck out three and walked two in the complete game effort.
Cockrell poled a triple and two doubles to lead the Rams offensively. Key doubled and singled, Jordan Jones was 2-for-3 and scored three runs, Cade Cantrell laced a pair of RBI singles, Ty Cantrell was 2-for-2 and scored twice, Joshua Bradbury tripled, Edmonds doubled and Kyle Perkins singled.
North DeSoto 6, Bastrop 2
North DeSoto out-hit the Rams 10-7 on its way to winning Saturday's early game.
Snapping a 1-1 tie with a deuce in the top of the fourth, the Griffins never surrendered the lead.
Morgan Edmonds tripled and singled for the Rams, Khalil Key doubled and Ty Cantrell, Chase Cockrell, Cade Cantrell and Dollar Ridgell collected base hits.
Cockrell went the distance in taking the loss, striking out five and walking five.
Minden 3, Bastrop 2
Minden pushed the game-winning run across in the bottom of the sixth to edge Bastrop on Friday evening.
Down 2-0, the Rams tied the game in the top of the sixth on successive base hits by Chase Cockrell, Khalil Key, Cade Cantrell and Gavin Pollock.
Minden opened the scoring with two in the second.
Hits were even at nine apiece. Bastrop received two singles apiece from Ty Cantrell and Cade Cantrell and base knocks from Cockrell, Key, Pollock, Dollar Ridgell and Jordan Jones.
Kyle Perkins pitched well in defeat, allowing one earned run, while pitching around four errors.
