  • Local man on bond for drug charges back in jail

  • A Bastrop man is behind bars after a search of his home revealed a large quantity of suspected crack cocaine and other drug related items.

  • According to Morehouse Parish Sheriff Mike Tubbs, deputies with the Northeast La. Drug Enforcement Bureau received information regarding Keith Dowles, 715 Welch St., selling crack cocaine out of his home. Officers secured a search warrant for the residence and on Thursday morning, executed the warrant. They made contact with Dowles as well as Bailey Westbrook, 250 E. Walnut, and located a large quantity of suspected crack cocaine, suspected marijuana, a loaded pistol and additional evidence items.
    Dowles, who is out on bond on other narcotic and weapons related charges, was arrested for possession of schedule I (marijuana), possession of schedule II (crack) with intent to distribute, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon while in possession of CDS, conspiracy to distribute schedule II (crack), conspiracy to distribute schedule II (crack). Westbrooks was arrested for possession of crack cocaine, possession of drug paraphernalia and probation violation. Donald Davenport, 133 Shady Oaks, was also arrested for distribution of schedule II (crack), distribution of schedule II (crack).
