The annual Bastrop/Morehouse Chamber of Commerce Banquet is slated for 6:30 p.m. tonight at the Municipal Center, with doors opening at 5:30 for the silent auction.
The event, which is sold out, will feature Alan Robertson of the famed “Duck Dynasty,” as the guest speaker, while community awards will be given to Morehouse Parish high achievers. The silent auction will have articles donated from various local businesses, including a two night stay at any La. state park, framed LSU prints, a Duck Commander duck caller, Duck Commander Bobble heads and various gift certificates.
Alan Robertson is the oldest son of the Duck Commander, Phil Robertson. He grew up hunting and fishing in North Louisiana and helped build the foundation of the family business in the 1970’s & ’80’s. He left the business in 1988, when he was called into full-time ministry, where he served in several different roles including senior pastor for White's Ferry Road Church in West Monroe.
Robertson is once again in the family business, along with wife Lisa. The couple have been married for 28 years and have two daughter and two granddaughter.
He, unlike his famous siblings, does not sport the infamous beard and calls himself “a Jacob in a family of Esaus.” He travels the country talking about the Robertson clan and their commitment to faith, family and ducks.
