Poole said they have 17 rodeos throughout the year. Students in grades sixth through eighth compete at the jr. high level and grades ninth through twelfth compete at the high school level.
“These kids aren't competing against each other,” Poole said. “They're competing against the stock. The kids are competing for points to make it to the Nation High School Finals.”
The event will take place at the MAC from Feb. 22– 24. Some of the events they'll be competing in include bare back riding, saddle bronc, pole bending and steer wrestling.

“We're excited about having such a large rodeo affiliated with us,” said the new MAC director Mike Fife. “I know this event is going to help boost businesses and economic growth here in Morehouse Parish.”
Poole said any student wanting to join the organization “is more than welcome.”
“We're like one big family,” he said. “The commodore is wonderful. This rodeo has been declining in members so we're bringing it to Morehouse Parish to breathe life back into it. We cant' wait.”
