Daniel Goodman tossed in 21 points as Manchester topped Prairie View 59-48 Tuesday afternoon in the Class 2A North State Tournament.
Prairie View led 17-13 at the end of the first quarter and went into intermission clinging to a 24-23 edge, before the Mavericks broke the game wide open in the third quarter. Outscoring the Spartans 25-9, Manchester carried a 48-33 lead into the final frame.
Austin Stovall joined Goodman in double figures with 10 points for the Mavericks. Also contributing to the scoring were Blanton Crister with nine, Austin Edwards with seven, Josh Peaster with four, Brian Turner and Jared Strictland with three and Will Stonestreet with two.
Brandon Jacobs led the Spartans with 19 points and Brendan Tubbs produced 17 points and eight rebounds. Tyler Jones had seven points, eight rebounds and four blocked shots, followed by Kory McLarrin with three points and Matt Reed with two.
Prairie View, the District 3 runner-up closed out the season 16-12.
Manchester, the fourth place team from District 2, advances to play District 1 champion Marshall on Thursday at 6:30 in the quarterfinals.
