About two weeks ago she began her position as director at the Synder Museum and said she is enjoying her new job.
“I have lived in Bastrop all my life,” Nugent said. “So the transition has been good for me. It is a lot of fun here. I like meeting new people, visiting and helping people out.”
Nugent said she loves art and is very involved in her church in Bastrop, where she helps out with the youth group on Wednesday evenings as well as helping to plan church events.
“I am a graduate of Bastrop High,” she said. “After I graduated I got married and had children. I have three daughters and four grandchildren, with one on the way.”
Nugent said she hasn't decided exactly what changes, if any, will be made at the museum, but in March she is planning on announcing the workshops, events and artists that will come and display.
“I am excited about being here,” she said.
