  • Former Bastrop Rams defensive linemen Claude Wroten and Jarvis Edmonds are teammates once again.
Wroten and Edmonds recently signed with the Marion (Ohio) Blue Racers of the Continental Indoor Football League.
A third-round pick out of LSU in the 2006 NFL draft, Wroten spent two seasons with the St. Louis Rams. He has since played for the Orlando Predators of the United Football League, followed by stints with the Toronto Argonauts, Hamilton Tiger-Cats and Edmonton Eskimos in the Canadian Football League.
“There aren't many players who I'd declare their signing as an offseason win, but Wroten is a big offseason win for us,” Blue Racers' director of football operations Ryan Sawyer told the team's web site, www.blueracers.com. “This is a guy who was slated to be a first round draft pick, if not for unfortunate pre-draft circumstances. We here in Marion are excited that Wroten has chosen us as his next step to getting back to the NFL.”
Wroten, who hasn't played in the NFL since serving a one-year suspension for violating the league's substance abuse policy in 2008, says his troubles are behind him.
“I've totally resurrected my life and my mindset,” the 6-2, 295-pound Wroten said. “Life's a long journey. I still have a long way to go and I know that.”
Wroten says he plans to make the most of his time with the Blue Racers.
“I look to better the situation here, better myself, better my team and help put the Blue Racers on the map,” Wroten said. “I'm here to take full advantage of this opportunity.”

Edmonds, a 6-5, 315-pounder, played for the Lakeland (Fla.) Raiders of the United Indoor Football League.
“The signings of Wroten and Edmonds significantly improves our roster and will provide a sibling rivalry in practice,” Blue Racers' CEO/general manager LaMonte Coleman said.
The Blue Racers open the season on the road Friday night against the defending CIFL champion Saginaw (Mich.) Sting.
LARECUS MOORE recently signed with Copiah-Lincoln Community College and has already enrolled in school.
A first-team All-District 2-4A linebacker and honorable mention All-State honoree as a senior, the 5-11, 200-pound Moore accounted for 119 tackles, 12 tackles for loss,  two sacks, four quarterback hurries and three forced fumbles.
DOOLEY TO DALLAS: Former Tennessee and Louisiana Tech head coach Derek Dooley is the Dallas Cowboys' new wide receivers coach.
Dooley spent two seasons with the Miami Dolphins — his only previous NFL job — where he was on the staff with Cowboys' head coach Jason Garrett.
