In contrast to the prior meeting when they couldn't find the basket, the Cougars were on fire Tuesday night.
“They lit us up,” Prairie View coach Joseph Waller said. “They jumped on us early. They shot the ball better than we did, they rebounded a whole lot better than we did and they scored in the paint better than we did. They did a lot of things better than we did.”
Central Hinds dominated the boards on both ends of the court, coming down with 14 offensive rebounds while holding the Spartans to 14 rebounds the entire game.
Ben Davis was high scorer for the Cougars with 19 points. Josh Barnes, who managed only four points in the Jan. 22 game, found the range for 18, including four 3-pointers. Rounding out the Cougars' scoring were Peyton Banes with 12, Trae Muse with eight, Brad Williamson with six, Wesley Grantham with five and Alex Biggs and Bruce Agee with four.
