Closing out its second soccer season with a two-game homestand, Bastrop is paired against West Ouachita on Friday night and Ouachita Christian on Monday. Game time for Friday's conference finale is 5:30 p.m. for the girls and 7:15 for the boys. Monday's match times are 5 p.m. for the girls and 6:45 for the boys.
Senior Night will be observed prior to Monday's contests. Four Lady Rams (Makayla Crossley,
Aneatria Watson, Katy Smith and Diane Potter) and six Rams (Aaron Greenwood, Carlos Shaw, Cade Cantrell, Tyler Bayless, Alex Ramirez and David Watson) will be recognized.
In Friday night's basketball action, Bastrop is at home against Neville. Hamburger plates will be on sale outside the front entrance of Sam's Place, with proceeds going toward a Shoot-A-Way machine.
Neville swept Bastrop in the District 2-4A opener at the Tigers' Den on Tuesday, Jan. 8, winning the girls game 47-28 and taking the boys tilt 68-50.
Kadejah Turpin had 14 points and Dei Ann Hall 10 for the Lady Tigers. Bastrop's Michelle Hardin paced the Lady Rams with 10 points.
Laurence Jones and Leon Smith scored 19 and 15 points, respectively, for the Tigers and Jay Wilson flipped in 21 for the Rams.
Both the Lady Rams and Rams improved to 1-2 on Tuesday with wins over Franklin Parish.
Hardin netted 23 points and Danielle Greely furnished 17 in the Lady Rams' 61-42 decision over the Lady Patriots.
Wilson found the range for 28 points in the Rams' 54-38 result over Franklin.
Seeking to build on its best outing of the season, the Prairie View Spartans hit the road Friday night against Riverdale in Coushatta. Tyler Jones amassed 19 points, seven rebounds and four blocked shots as the Spartans throttled Central Hinds 67-30 on Tuesday evening.
Receiving 14 points from Tori Simmons, the Lady Spartans (19-5, 3-0) defeated Central Hinds 57-26 Tuesday night at Spartan Gym.
Prairie View and Riverdale meet again in Bastrop on Monday night in a makeup game from Jan. 15.
