  • BLACK BAYOU — No report. For latest information, contact the Honey Hole at 323-8707.
CANEY LAKE — The lake is up some two feet due to heavy rains. However, a bass weighing 11.25 pounds was caught before the rain and cold weather. Once the weather settles, look for good catches of yellow bass and some largemouth bass on jigging spoons fished deep. Crappie will be around deep structure and at the mouth of the creeks. For more information, call the Honey Hole at 323-8707.
CHENIERE LAKE — The water is high and fishing is slow. However, the crappie should settle into the deep holes before staging to move shallow to spawn later. Shiners and jigs should work. Before the heavy rains, bass had been biting in current around the spillway on jigs. Call the Honey Hole at 323-8707 for more information.
LAKE CLAIBORNE — The water is rising from heavy rains. Some crappie had started moving deep and a good many were caught out from the dam on jigs and shiners. Some have been caught at night around the lights on shiners. Bass, catfish and stripers are slow. For latest information, call Tim Lofton at Kel's Cove at 927-2264.
LAKE D'ARBONNE — The closure of the gates followed by torrential rains have sent the water over the spillway. Water is high, muddy and swift and few anglers have been out. However, bass should be following the rising water and can be caught in the backwater on crank baits, jigs or Rat-L-Traps. Look for best crappie bites to come from channel edges. Catfish are biting around the boat docks. For latest information, call Anderson's Sport Center at 318-368-9669.
OUACHITA RIVER — The river is high and rising and fishing is slow until things settle down. For current information, call the Honey Hole at 323-8707.
LAKE POVERTY POINT — The water level is high with water running over the spillway and Bayou Macon backing up to the dam. Few fishermen are out because of these harsh conditions. For latest reports, call Poverty Point Marina at 318-878-0101.
LAKE ST. JOHN — The water is high to the point that launch ramps have been shut down until further notice. Call Doug Miller or Ken Mahoney at Lake St. John Grocery (318-757-0013) for latest reports and fishing conditions.
LAKE YUCATAN — No report this week. For latest information, call James Lachney at 318-467-2259.
