  • A Bastrop High student was arrested at approximately 10:30 a.m. Monday, after having a concealed gun in his possession in class, according to Sheriff Mike Tubbs.
Pierce T. Frazier, 17, of 108 Rosemary Dr., was arrested and charged with illegally carrying a weapon on school campus after school resource officer Lt. Quickman Trotter learned that Frazier had a gun at school.
A report from the Associated Press indicates that Frazier's parents alerted authorities to the situation.
Trotter and deputy Eddy Garrett, along with other school personnel, located Mr. Frazier in class, according to Tubbs.
"After conducting a search, they located an automatic pistol and a magazine concealed in two different locations on his body."
According to the AP, Frazier didn't threaten anyone with the gun.
Tubbs said Frazier was arrested and booked into the Morehouse Parish Jail. He is awaiting a bond to be set during his first court appearance today.
Tubbs said if Frazier is found guilty of this crime, he could face up to five years in prison.
