Playing at home for the first time since the Yvette West Memorial Classic exactly a month ago, Prairie View resumes MAIS District 3-2A play at home Tuesday night (weather permitting) against Riverdale. The four-game card gets under way with the JV girls game at 4 p.m.
Prairie View brings a 17-5 record into the girls game after going 0-2 against a pair of Class 3A teams in the Jackson Academy Double Header.
In Saturday's game, the Lady Spartans played Hillcrest Christian tough, before falling short, 43-37.
Prairie View led 12-7 at the end of the first quarter and carried a 23-20 advantage into halftime.
Hillcrest tied the game at 27 at the end of the third frame, before outscoring the Lady Spartans 16-10 in the fourth quarter.
Christina Berryhill spearheaded the Lady Cougars with 20 points. Dani Anderson and Kristen Oliphant shared scoring honors for the Lady Spartans with 13 points apiece.
Prairie View won its district opener at Central Hinds 57-28 on Jan. 8.
On the boys side, the Spartans (10-9, 0-1) are seeking to even their conference slate at 1-1 after a 69-48 loss at Central Hinds.
Wrapping up the first round of district play, Prairie View visits River Oaks on Friday.
