GIRLS
Sterlington 32, Lakeside 25
Sterlington's 32-25 victory over Lakeside was hardly a masterpiece. Nevertheless, it was a much-needed win as the Lady Panthers evened their District 2-2A record at 1-1 with Friday night's home court victory.
Sterlington (12-6 overall) led at the end of every quarter — 7-5, 16-13 and 24-18.
LaTasha English scored 11 of her 13 points in the first half to key the Lady Panthers.
Tamera Douglas had 15 points for the Lady Warriors (4-12, 0-2), who received scoring contributions from only four players.
With two tough games ahead next week, the Lady Panthers desperately needed Friday night's win. Sterlington is at home against No. 5 Jonesboro-Hodge on Tuesday and travels to Homer on Friday.
“Next week is really going to be tough,” Sterlington coach Darlene Eubanks said.
