Jerrie Williams is a blogger on the Beauregard Daily News website. The name of her blog is C.O.P.E. Community Organized Parents in Education. This blog is syndicated statewide to all GateHouse websites. She will not only be blogging about local education concerns, but information about resources for parental research on different subjects concerning children and their well being. Jerrie Williams is the mother of three autistic children. Her journey began in 1999, when she discovered that her children were not developing according to the national mind stone charts. This was after they had received immunizations and developed reactions to them. She later learned the immunizations contained an agent that her children were allergic to, which led to their developmental delays. She moved her children to Georgia to be treated by a specialist in autism and brain injury in 2000. Since then she has been searching and discovering several research-based interventions and resources to educate, support and assist in the recovery of autism. She moved to Louisiana in August, 2011, and has been involved in educating the community about autism and the resources available to parents of autistic children as well as adults with autism. She has been instrumental in helping the Beauregard Parish school system to design an individualized curriculum that was suited for the educational needs of her children as well as other special needs children. Her children have since blossomed with this curriculum and continue to thrive. She will continue in her journey as a mother and an advocate for others.
And then there were four!
Two more contestants were eliminated from The X Factor Thursday night, with four making it through to next week's semifinals. Did Tate Nation give Tate Stevens the votes he needed to reclaim the top spot from Carly Rose Sonenclar? Did CeCe Frey survive another week? And which acts had to go head-to-head to stay in the competition? Read on to find out.
The show dragged the suspense out as much as it could, featuring performances from last season's winner Melanie Amaro and a promo for Sony headphones before getting to the first elimination.
Fall TV Scorecard: What's renewed/canceled?
So, who was the first act given the boot? Somewhat unsurprisingly, Frey's luck finally ran out - despite the fact that judge Demi Lovato, donned matching leopard face paint in solidarity with her sole remaining contestant.
Next, hosts Mario Lopez and Khloe Kardashian revealed which three acts were safe and automatically earned a spot in next week's semifinals. Those were Emblem 3, Carly Rose Sonenclar and Tate Stevens, meaning that Diamond White and Fifth Harmony had to enter a sing-off. (But before they did, Ke$ha took the stage to perform her latest single "Come On.")
Fifth Harmony opted for Mariah Carey's "Anytime You Need a Friend" for their Save Me song and White, who found herself in the bottom two for the second week in a row, chose Lee Ann Womack's "I Hope You Dance" for hers. And then it was up to the judges to decide which one would go home.
The X Factor: Who Did Simon Threaten to Put in the "Naughty Chair"?
Unsurprisingly, Fifth Harmony's mentor, Simon Cowell, and White's mentor, Britney Spears, each voted to eliminate the other's act. So Lovato and L.A. Reid had to make the final call. Reid voted to send White home, and Lovato voted ... also to send White home. This is the second time the 13-year-old has been eliminated, and she was even more gracious in her farewell than before.
So the semifinalists are set, in this order: at fourth place, Fifth Harmony; in third, Emblem 3; in second, Carly Rose Sonenclar; and overtaking Sonenclar to return to first place, Tate Stevens.
Which acts do you think will make it to the finals - and who should win the whole competition? Weigh in below!
